An online roofing calculator will help you calculate the roof area, the number of sheets of metal tiles, corrugated sheets or soft tiles, and also take into account the supply of material. Suitable for single-pitch, gable, hip and mansard roofs.
The roofing calculator uses precise formulas to calculate roof area, taking into account roof type, slope angle, overhangs and complexity factors. Suitable for calculating various roofing materials: metal tiles, corrugated sheets, soft roofing, ondulin, slate. Calculation formula: Roof area = Projection area × Slope coefficient × Complexity coefficient.

Using a roofing calculator provides many advantages when planning construction: accurate calculation of roof area, cost savings, procurement planning, waste minimization.
The calculator uses proven formulas taking into account all roof parameters to obtain an accurate result.
Correct calculation allows you to avoid overuse of materials and unnecessary costs for purchasing unnecessary sheets.
Knowing in advance the required amount of materials, you can plan the budget and purchases for construction.
The calculator's simple and intuitive interface allows you to quickly calculate the required amount of materials.
To get an accurate result, follow our recommendations when calculating the roof.
To calculate the roof area, measure the length and width of the house, select the type of roof (single, gable, hip, mansard), indicate the angle of the roof in degrees and the length of the overhangs. The calculator will automatically calculate the roof area taking into account all parameters.
The number of sheets of metal tiles depends on the area of the roof and the size of the sheets. A standard metal tile sheet has a size of 1.18 × 0.35 m (area 0.413 m²). To calculate, divide the roof area by the area of one sheet and add a margin of 10-15%.
For a gable roof, area = (Length of house + 2 × Overhang) × (Width of house / 2 + Overhang) × Slope coefficient × 2 slopes. The slope coefficient depends on the angle of inclination (for 30° coefficient = 1.155).
To calculate corrugated sheeting, measure the roof area taking into account the angle of inclination and overhangs. The size of a standard corrugated sheet is 1.0×1.2 m (area 1.2 m²). Divide the roof area by the sheet area and add a margin of 10%.
The optimal roof angle depends on the roofing material. For metal tiles - 15-35°, for corrugated sheets - 10-35°, for soft roofing - 12-45°, for slate - 20-35°. The larger the angle, the better the snow and water melt away.
The hip roof has four slopes. The area is calculated as the sum of the areas of two trapezoidal and two triangular slopes, taking into account the slope coefficient. The calculator will automatically perform all calculations.
The weight of metal tiles is 4-5 kg/m². For a roof with an area of 100 m², the weight of the roofing material will be approximately 400-500 kg. You also need to take into account the weight of the sheathing, insulation and waterproofing.
The attic roof has broken slopes with different angles of inclination. The area is calculated as the sum of the areas of the upper and lower slopes, taking into account the slope coefficients for each section. For an accurate calculation, use a calculator.
For the roof, a reserve of 10-15% of the total area is recommended. For simple forms (single slope, gable) 10% is enough, for complex forms (hip, attic) - 15%. The stock takes into account trimming, defects and possible errors.
For a pitched roof, area = (Length of house + 2×Engagement) × (Width of house + 2×Engagement) × Slope coefficient. This is the simplest type of roof with minimal material consumption.
The cost of metal tiles depends on the manufacturer and thickness. The price per m² is 300-800 rubles. For a roof with an area of 100 m², the cost of the material will be approximately 30,000-80,000 rubles, excluding installation.
Roof area taking into account the angle of inclination = Projection area × Slope coefficient. The slope coefficient is calculated as 1 / cos (slope angle). For example, for an angle of 30°, coefficient = 1 / cos(30°) = 1.155.
For a soft roof, measure the roof area taking into account the angle of inclination and overhangs. A standard roll of soft roofing has a size of 1.0×10 m (area 10 m²). Divide the roof area by the roll area and add a margin of 10-15%.
A roof overhang is the part of the roof that extends beyond the walls of the house. The standard overhang is 0.3-0.6 m. The overhang protects the walls from rain and snow. The area of the overhangs is taken into account when calculating the total roof area.
For a house 10x10 m with a gable roof at an angle of 30°: projection area = 100 m², slope coefficient = 1.155, roof area = 115.5 m² excluding overhangs. With overhangs of 0.5 m, the area will increase by approximately 20 m².
Various materials are suitable for a pitched roof: corrugated sheeting (economical), metal tiles (decorative), soft roofing (silent). The choice depends on budget and design. The angle of inclination should be at least 10-15°.
For a garage, a pitched roof is usually used. Measure the length and width of the garage, indicate the angle of inclination (15-25°), the length of the overhangs (0.3-0.5 m). The calculator will calculate the area and quantity of materials.
A standard sheet of ondulin has a size of 2.0×0.95 m (area 1.9 m²). To calculate, divide the roof area by 1.9 and add a margin of 10-15%. Ondulin is lightweight and easy to install.
For a roof with a bay window, calculate the area of the main roof separately from the area of the bay window. The bay window area is calculated as the area of a cone or polygon depending on the shape. Add up the results for the total area.
The roof slope coefficient shows how many times the slope area is larger than the projection area. Calculated as 1/cos(inclination angle). For an angle of 30°, the coefficient = 1.155, for 45° = 1.414. The larger the angle, the greater the coefficient.
For a hip roof, area = Area of two trapezoids + Area of two triangles. Area of a trapezoid = (a + b) × h / 2, area of a triangle = a × h / 2, where a and b are the bases, h is the height. Consider the slope factor.
The cost of corrugated sheeting depends on the thickness and coating. The price per m² is 200-500 rubles. For a roof with an area of 100 m², the cost of the material will be approximately 20,000-50,000 rubles, excluding installation. Corrugated sheeting is more economical than metal tiles.
For a dacha, a gable or pitched roof is usually used. Measure the dimensions of the dacha, select the type of roof and the angle of inclination (20-30°). Specify the length of the overhangs (0.3-0.5 m). The calculator will calculate the area and quantity of materials.
Metal tiles and corrugated sheets are well suited for hip roofs, as they are easy to cut and fit into complex shapes. You can also use a soft roof. Consider increased material consumption due to the complexity of the shape.
For a roof with an attic, the area is calculated as the sum of the areas of the upper and lower slopes. The lower slopes usually have an angle of 60-70°, the upper ones - 15-30°. Each section is calculated separately taking into account its slope coefficient.
The weight of corrugated sheeting is 5-8 kg/m² depending on the thickness. For a roof with an area of 100 m², the weight of the roofing material will be approximately 500-800 kg. You also need to take into account the weight of the sheathing and other elements.
For a flat roof, area = House length × House width. A flat roof has a minimum slope of 1-5° for water drainage. Does not require calculation of the slope coefficient. Used for multi-storey buildings.
Overlapping is the overlap of one sheet with another when laying. For metal tiles, the overlap is 10-15 cm horizontally and 8-10 cm vertically. The overlap is taken into account when calculating the effective sheet area.
For a roof with dormers, calculate the area of the main roof and subtract the area of the dormers. The area of the dormer window is calculated as the area of its roof. Total area = Roof area - Dormer area.
The cost of soft tiles depends on the manufacturer and class. The price per m² is 400-1000 rubles. For a roof with an area of 100 m², the cost of the material will be approximately 40,000-100,000 rubles. Soft roofing is more expensive than corrugated roofing, but is quieter.
